KWAH LEADERS CALL FOR URGENT ACTION FOLLOWING ATTACKS THAT LEFT 24 DEAD IN LAMURDE.

By Edom John
Leaders of the Kwah community in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State have called for urgent government intervention to address the ongoing communal crisis affecting their communities.

At a press conference, the group appealed to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and relevant security agencies to take decisive steps to restore peace in the area.

The community expressed deep concern over recurring violence in Lamurde LGA, particularly clashes involving Bachama and Chobo groups, which they say have increasingly affected Kwah and neighboring Gyakan communities.

The leaders referenced the April 23, 2026 incident in which 24 people lost their lives, as well as a previous attack in September 2024, describing them as part of a troubling pattern of insecurity.

According to the chairman Kwah Development Association, the situation has created fear, displacement, and disruption of livelihoods in the affected areas.

“Gentlemen of the press, we address you with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency,” the chairman said, emphasizing the need for lasting peace and protection of lives.

They described their communities as peaceful and primarily agrarian, contributing to food production and stability in the State.

The group called for:
The establishment of an independent panel to review the crisis,
Measures to ensure those responsible are brought to justice
Increased security presence in affected communities.
They also appealed for humanitarian assistance for displaced residents.

The Kwah community urged government authorities, civil society groups, and humanitarian organizations to work together toward a sustainable resolution of the crisis and the restoration of normalcy in Lamurde..
